  1. try changing out their food more often. Also fruit flies are attracted to beer and pop so if you have any empty bottles in your home get them out of the house. Keep all fruit in the fridge away from the insects.

I don't have birds but there is a neat little trap some hermit crab keepers use when the flies get into their tank. Get some of those tubes you see in flower shops to get water to individual flowers. Using some wire attach it to the bird cage. add some beer or sweet liquid to the tube. The flies will be attracted to it then drown in the liquid. It will act as an artificial pitcher plant.

If the infestation is really really bad you may have to get someone in to spray the house.

  2. change their food more often and vacuum/clean the cage and around the cage more.

this should help get rid of them since none is sitting so they wont have any to get into or lay eggs in.
