Question:

Pet budgie passed away?

My budgie Ziggy passed on last night.

I need help thinking what I should do with the body. My personal belief of death is when the body dies (for any living being), it remains simply a shell and not part of who that being was at all during the time the spirit was in it.....and the spirit moves on.....I was thinking of taking his body to a vet to be cremated...but they charge so much...

Can anyone give me some options?

  1. I'm sorry for your loss.  I recently lost my conure and buried him in our yard.  It made it easier on our daughter to know that she could visit him.  Did you check with a few different vet offices regarding the cremation fees?  Since your pet was so small, there may be a smaller fee as opposed to cremation of a larger dog or cat.

  2. Aw i am so sorry! I recently had a few birds pass. I (my mom) buries them in our backyard. They will always be with me, and if we ever move, there most likely won't be anything there at that time. if you really want to get it cremated you can take it to the spca.. I think they cremate, but i am not sure if they have to be put to sleep there to be cremated. call first...

  3. I always gave my little pets a funeral with the kids in tow. i usually buried them in the back yard at my home. The kids loved it and we said some nice things about our little pets.

  4. You should put his body in the backyard and buried it. Or keep it in a special box.
