Pet crisis...........?

Ive posted questions about this all day, and I'm really sorry if your annoyed.

:(

I have everything I need to own a ferret, a cage, food, a harness for leash, collar, toys, ferret play condo thingy, cage has sleep canopy food and water, also its 2 story.

Whats the problem?

Mom says no, Dad says yes.

My dad works really hard for money for our family, he works out of state too, and it should be his choice, not moms.

I have everything I need, and I found the right ferret for me, at a reasonable price. I knew he was the one, at first sight..

My dad always puts stuff off to my mom..like 'Ask your mother' 'Yes, but you'll have to discuss it with your mother' and things like that.

I do, she says no, and you say yes, so what does that mean? and they dont have an answer.

I need help before my perfect pet gets adopted. :( I'll be really upset.

What do I do?

  1. Well, since you already have everything, why not print out information and lots of pictures of cute fuzzy ferrets.

Give her the 'essay' on ferrets, leave it in a letter or something and give it to her. Tell her that before she say's "NO" to THINK deeply about it, think about how much you would really appreciate it;  how you've fallen in love with one in particular and it would mean the world for you to get it.. :)

  2. If dad works out of state, your mom's big reason behind the No is that she will be the one to help you care for it. Be very mature, and try to prove that you will be fully responsible for the care and keeping of your pet. When I really wanted to prove something to my parents, I wrote an essay about it. It showed them that I'd done my research and had the knowledge, and that if I would take the time to organize my thoughts and reasonings to provide to them, that I would be able to follow thru with my responsibilities. It's worth a try!

  3. Mom might be worried that SHE will be the one taking care of it. Prove to her that you're up to it by doing what ever chores you're supposed to do... consistantly.

Don't worry about THIS particular ferret getting adopted. There's plenty of them available. Do NOT bring it home without permission. Just work on the responsibility thing ... your chores and grades...and earn it.

And you still might have to have your own place someday first. I keep exotic animals, and had to wait until I was forty and could buy my own farm. Life is like that.

  4. Be mature about it- ask your mother for reasons why she is saying no and discuss them with her. If you can't sway her mind- you just may have to wait until you are older and out on your own. I wanted tons of pets growing up, but could only have dogs and fish when with my parents. Now that I am on my own I have snakes, ferrets, reptiles, cats, goats, horses, etc.

  5. I'd get it. Then show her how cute it is. Unless she is scared of them or something. Then maybe that's why? People mistake them for rats. :/
