Do they pay for vaccination costs? or just the vet fees?

I saw a quote say "Boarding fees - £250" Does that mean they will pay up to that much for your dog to stay somewhere?

  1. i had the dearest insurance with argos for my dog and no they do not pay for vaccinations you have to pay the first 50 towards kennels or accidents in my opinion save the money weekly and you should be fine.

  2. No, insurance companies do not pay for the following:

    Routine check ups

    Vaccinations

    Boarding your pet.

Also, read the small print because some insurance companies only pay up to a certain amount for each accident/injury whereas Petplan covers the cost of the initial accident AND any further treatment required for the same injury. Petplan is the best IMO.

  3. It depends on your company and the coverage they are not all the same. Some reimburse you for routine care, emergencies and genetic issues. Others only cover hit by car and sever illness. And not all vets take pet insurance and some only take certain companies. IMO if your a good pet owner your money is better off in a savings in case of an emergency(because they do happen) until they get the insurance stuff straight.

  4. They do not pay for routine immunisations. The boarding fees thing is for if you say have to go to hospital, it's not so you can take a holiday. There will be an excess on the policy and an upper limit for each individual claim. You can claim for injury and illness. Anything to do with pregnancy and whelping is excluded

  5. Depends on the individual insurance companies as to what they pay out for what, and you do need to read the fine print closely to make sure you will be covered for exactly what you will need.

No insurance company will pay for vaccination costs, but some will pay boarding fees for exceptional circumstances, i.e. owner is hospitalized and nobody else can take care of the dog, again you would need to check the fine print.

Incidentally, it may be worth noting that most insurance companies take ages to pay out and a lot of vets are unwilling to wait for payment, so usually you will be expected to pay the vet fees yourself and then are paid back yourself by the insurance company, which imo totally defeats the object of getting pet insurance in the first place!! *rolls eyes*

  6. With insurance they pay for vet fees for illness or injury they do not cover vet treatment for prevention of illness. You pay an excess which can be £50 - £100 depending upon your policy. They do not cover pre-existing conditions and some insurance companies will only cover a particular illness for a year, the next year it is excluded.

Boarding fees are for a dog to be boarded in kennels if you are hospitalised

  7. No they don't pay vaccination costs, but they do pay the vet's fee's! Look out for excess payments though. Sorry I'm not sure about the boarding fee's. My pet insurance company saved my dog's life and i am forever in their debt, get insurance friend you never know when you might need it.

  8. they do not pay for vacs that is not covered & paid by you

you have to pay say the first £70 (in my case) and they will pay the rest, say you need a blood test done for allergies that your dog/cat has suddenly started pulling out fur, you claim they can pay the vets direct or you pay the vets & claim back.

    say the total is £200

you pay the 'excess fee' in my case £70, the other £130 is paid by them.

make sure that you reda the quote throughly if your pet gets ill some places only pay for the first year of illness up to £2000/4000/7000.

say your pet has a illness for life (like my cat over 15k in bills so far)

some pay for the 'life' of the illness which means unlimited you pay the excess but if you pet is ill for 5 years the claim wont stop after a year, it will go on until your pet does!

boarding fees, if for some reason you are stranded and your pet needs to be boarded then they help with this? that what i took it to be, or you have to go into hospital & no one can look after said pet.

im not sure if they will pay to board your pet while you go sunning yourself on your hols!! lol :)
