Question:

Pet ownership in a no-pet condo in Toronto?

I have lived in my condo in Toronto for more than 10 years and have owned a pet which the "no-Pet" building has know about all along. Many other people in the building also have pets, but the no-pet laws have not been enforced. Recently a new owner moved into the building and complained about my animal, and I have been asked to get rid of it. Is there anything I can do? Have there been any court rulings which support the pet owner?

  1. Nu-uh.

You were lucky to get away with it whilst you could.

No offense, but that's very selfish- people move into no-pet condos because they don't want pets around them, and you broke that rule.

So sorry, but there's nothing you can do since you're in the wrong.

    Um, no.

That case is a situation where a woman had a cat for years and THEN her condo enforced a no pet policy.

Your case is the condo had an active no pet policy but YOU still decided to keep your pet.
