Round here there were such notables as:

Cement Head Shroeder - self explanitory

Vlad The Impaler - Came on at 16:00 and EVERYBODY heads in till he figures it out, made all the more appropriate in that he was an immigrant from Romania

Rick "Kami Kaze" Kang - Last move as a dispatcher? Three freight trains that had work to do at a place within CTC limits called Black Butte. He had all three trains at Black Butte, with Amtrak comin'. Nuff said?

Hand Throw Joe - He never talked anyone by a double red, instead always having the crew take the switch in hand throw.

"Red Board" Randy - also self explanitory

Carl "Overtime" Overman - His safety valve? Not more than two stations on green signals at a time. Didn't always stop but always had to call when picking up flashing yellow to keep moving

Steve "Jaws" Wagner - a rough, gruff old bird, Jaws was certainly appropriate. he was also the best Train Dispatcher I've ever known, bar none.

So. Who haunts you at work?

  1. SCC- we just call her Sue the train slayer.

LSP- large stinky P@ssy or large supreme pizza......because she always brings pizza with her to work to chew on through the shift.

WSC- william sherman clinton.........guy sounds just like him.

BMS- Bad moon shine........guy is so bad that he seems drunk half of the time.

    JPP- Just park'em please...........enough said

DHS- department of human services..........guy has no character and seems as if he's just trying to nail you

KDD- Karen with double D's...........you get the picture

LD- lillies and daisys.......she's always so d**n gleeful

  2. We had a KLB  "kant line blocks"

and JAB was "just as bad"

    GDK or "gawdamm dickskratcher"

"Yellow block Carter" because he NEVER lines you thruogh until you're running on approach blocks

IAB  "I'm a bit**"    (female disp) that's her name for herself, I think she usually does a pretty good job, and she has a great sunse of humor

  3. Those are actually quite entertaining. The dispatch I have to deal with on BNSF and the CP are all actually pretty good. And we have a good repore with 'em.

However, up until a couple years ago, there was "Ten Warrant" Warren. (Won't mention which railroad.) He cost us ten warrants to go 32 miles. Including - but not limited to - backing our 62 car train into a seldom used subdivision to clear up at Jct. that tied in to a siding, to keep both the siding and main clear. And then, to get back on the main, we were given a warrant from East Siding Switch - MP 289.1, to MP 290. That was a long trip.

There is one dispatcher that is truly a unique gem. She is P.A.T.. And I don't think Pat has ever had a bad day. Always has a plan, always sharp and witty, and is always in control. The irony here is SHE has nicknames for all of us. Like, The Mitchell Man, Scrap Iron, and of course I'm Derail.

    Great topic.
