(their tail creeps me out in so many levels)...most likely i wont get one but it makes me sad ill miss out in good pet

  1. just think as the tail as not a bad thing.

if you want a rat your gonna have to get used to it.

i think there actually really cute!

  2. well, if tails creep you out big time,

youmight as well get a hamster.

Cute, furry, and easy to take care of

  3. I didn't have a good experience with rats (they scarpered when they saw me coming and bit me every time I held them) but MOST make excellent pets.

I can't understand the tail creeping people out so can't really help you there. I think they're cute!

Maybe if the tail creeps you out this much you should opt for a guinea pig? I can definitely say I had a better experience with guinea pigs than I did with rats.

Good luck and hope I've helped.

  4. Ha ha-the tail may continue to creep you out if they run it along their hand but once you get some you see that they are clean and friendly.

  5. Hey

Well I can't say the tails on my rats have ever bothered me, but when they're young their tails aren't as "scaley" more like a tail of a mouse. So i think you'll be fine if you buy them young because you will get used to it as he/she grows up.

You won't regret having rats as pets, they're brilliant little animals

I'd also get 2 rats (if you were thinking of the one) because they're sociable animals and get bored on their own, it's also known they get better form illnesses quicker if they have a partner

    Hope this helped you

  6. get a hamster same as a rat no tail

  7. 1 thing is that rats male or female nether bite unless you REALY ANOOY HIM/HER:hurt it drop it ect. and no rats r no more importent than mice hamsters and cats there all of the same importence

  8. THIS MAY LOOK LONG, BUT IT ISN'T... PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rats are amazing pets, basically a miniature portable dog without the extra aggression, hair, and smell, but all if not more the affection! unlike other rodents, rats LOVE to be with people and sitting on their shoulders. We had a rat that was the coolest, sweetest rat any of us had ever seen, and she went everywhere with us. Everybody loved her, and other rodents just don't compare to the affection, playfullness and intellegence that a rat displays. She would beg for people food when she sat at the dinner table with us, and would fall asleep in our laps. She even went to disney land with us (but she did stay in the hotel room)! And if the tail freaks u out, people actually breed manx, or tailess, rats. But the tail is totally worth it when you meet the rat, so you can buy a 20 dollar manx rat from a breeder or a 5 dollar rat from Petco. Please, I have personally compared the rat to other rodents, and they totally scored WAYYY above on the lovable scale.

No matter what rodent you get, use a wire cage, not an aquarium. Wire cages are much better ventilated and animals almost always live significantly longer in them than aquariums. One more thing... HAMSTERS AND GERBILS AREN"T THE SAME AS RATS! Hamsters and gerbils bite, smell bad, and don't fall in love with people... trust me.

  9. rats make great pets, they dont bite, they can learn their names and learn to do tricks. i think you can get a rat which doesnt actually have a tail, or so ive heard. their tails arent actually that bad, they use them to balance, ive seen a rat walk across a piece of string. i actually think the best part of a rat are their tails
