Pet water bottles?

I have a water bottle for my pet mouse, it has stainless steel tube and a ball. I watch her for few hours and she doesn't seem like she's drinking from the bottle. If this helps, I bought her from a pet store, they had water dishes instead of bottles. I hope it's normal

  1. Dont bye any bowls for water it will spoil very fast.I had the same problem with my hamsters, they dint drink of the water bottle.IU should bring the water bottle up to them so they could use it or squezze it in front of there face so they know there a water supply in that.

  2. Don't worry about it.  Your mouse will get the hang of it.  She will drink when she is thirsty.  When I had mice they drank very little.

  3. he will figure it out, he will most likely not go near it if you are constantly watching him.

make sure a little drop of water is hanging out the bottom so he knows what it is, and he will get the hang of it.

my mouse was raised in a cage with a water bowl, and the day i put him in a new cage with a water bottle he was weirded out, but he gets the idea.

they are smart and resourceful, they will search around if they are thirsty, they won't let themselves dehydrate and get sick.

  4. if you are worried provide a small bowl of water until she gets the hang of it when i got my 2 gerbils i was worried because i had got a different water bottle so i gave a bowl of water to them, when you notice her drinking out of the water bottle you can take the dish out but she may never learn how to drink out of a water bottle.
