Pete Cowen upbeat about European team chances in the 2012 Ryder Cup
The renowned swing coach, Pete Cowen is upbeat about the European 'B' golf team's capability and chances of beating their opposition across the Atlantic, the US team, at the Ryder Cup this year.
The official has cited the historical wins of 2004 and 2006 as the main motivational factors for the European team to inflict a defeat on Americans.
Also, there are many other positives that the Europeans can count on for boosting their confidence. The fact is that they have beaten their opponents not once but twice, and there is no reason they cannot be successful again.
Cowen has the history of working with some of the best golf players around the world including Lee Westwood, Graeme McDowell, Louis Oosthuizen and Padraig Harrington.
He was present at the European Tour awards dinner, held prior to the start of the BMW PGA Championship and received an award for his elite career in coaching.
At the award ceremony, he backed his comments of supporting the idea that European Team definitely has the chance this year of outshining their opponents at Medinah.
“I wasn’t joking," Cowen said, according to Global Golf Post. "People have been coming up to me to ask about (the comment) and I’ve been telling them that I meant what I said. To be honest, I get fed up with those who sit on the fence. They go on and on
about how difficult away matches can be when they should be sending out positive vibes”.
If one looks at the current scenario, it is very much clear that Europeans are taking down the US players in many of the events all over the world.
Moreover, the top three players in the Official World Golf Rankings also belong to European countries.
Therefore, it is very easy to predict that the Europeans definitely have a chance of repeating history this time.
There was a time when the golf commentators started believing that Europeans were ready to take full control of the Ryder Cup after they recorded two consecutive wins.
However, the talks subsided after Americans did the same afterwards. Yet, many golf communities believe that the time has come again that the prestigious cup returns to the European soil once again.
Therefore, everyone is waiting desperately for the start of the event that is expected to bring some tough competition at Medinah Country Club.
