Pete Dye Golf Course rated 45th best in United States by Golf Digest – Golf news
Pete Dye Golf Course has been ranked as the 45th best course in United States of America by Golf Digest annual review.
Superintendent Pete Dye Golf Course Gary Grandstaff confirmed the news on Friday in an interview with the press.
He said, “It’s a special spot in the world when it comes to golf, it’s truly one of the truly great golf courses in the world. We were just ranked 45th by Golf Digest which is quite an honour in it of itself but that means there is 16,450 golf courses behind
us which is kind of nice to think about.”
Pete Dye Golf Course, which is located in West Virginia, is one of the most exquisite courses in United States. As the name suggests, the course was designed by Pete Dye, who was later presented with the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award for designing
most of the signature holes on some of the toughest courses of the world.
It is the yardage and the beauty of the course, which has helped the 7,248-yard course climb the rankings. Initially, it was ranked on the 99th spot, when Golf Digest started the annual review of the best courses of the region. In a span of 12
years, it jumped to the 45th place, which shows the amount of efforts put forth by the management to keep it on the same level as per the requirements of Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.
Apart from the scenic beauty and lakes to marvel at, the course holds the privilege of being one of the few to have 18 signature holes. Each hole has a unique layout and has a design that expects a certain level of prowess of golf. Grandstaff mentioned the
edge they possess with pride and said, “We have 18 strong golf holes and that is something really special.”
He also added that after reaching yet another level in excellence, the management was looking forward to make the Pete Dye Golf Course as the number one golfing facility of the region in the future, as that was their primary mission.
