Pete Eldridge makes a switch from Mystery Skateboards to Cliché Skateboards
American professional skateboarder Pete Eldridge has parted ways with Mystery Skateboards to become a part of the Cliché Skateboard team.
The announcement was made by the skateboard company on Wednesday, April 11, confirming the switch made by the Jersey-based skateboarder.
In an exclusive interview with ESPN, Eldridge conceded that he was prompted to move west after breaking up with his girlfriend whom he was living with in Denver. His shift to Southern California resulted in his moving into the Mystery house. He began to
skate for the company before coming across an opportunity to join Cliché’.
“Opportunity just presented itself. I've known those dudes over at Cliché for a long time, conceded Eldridge. “I went out there years ago with my friend Ollie and we went to Lyon and skated with everybody on Cliché, this was back in the Bootleg days. Those
dudes are all super sick and I had a good time. Cliché was just a smaller company then, doing their thing. But now they have this huge distributor out here and they're growing in the states and they asked me to be a part of it and I was down. Just kind of
happened like that.”
The professional skateboarder went on to add that he had already talked about his decision to make a switch from Mystery Skateboards to Cliché Skateboards with Jamie Thomas, the very man who had helped him to get back on track as far as his skateboarding
career was concerned. Eldridge conceded that Thomas took it quite well and thus the parting of ways was not bitter at all.
Commenting on his association with Cliché’ Skateboards, Eldridge stated that it was a win-win situation for both him and his new sponsor. While he would make his contributions to promote Cliché in America, the skateboard company would help him in gaining
more recognition in Europe where it is already a well-known established entity.
Joining the Cliché Team roster, Eldridge will be doing a tour of Europe with his new crew within a couple of months and will also be starting work on a video that is expected to come out in the fourth quarter of 2012.
