Pete Sampras, Sabine Lisicki and Carlos Moya participated in Li Na’s exhibition event – Tennis News
Two legends and two current tennis icons played in an exhibition set up by the Chinese number one, Li Na, who was one of the participants as well. Former world number one, Pete Sampras and the legendary Carlos
Moya were two of the participants along with the German tennis star, Sabine Lisicki, who participated in Li Na’s exhibition event in her hometown, Wuhan.
The exhibition show turned into a humorous event as everyone enjoyed the match with slight nudges and screams that burst the crowd into laughter. Sampras threw his racquet in the midst of a rally and surrendered,
whilst Lisicki tossed up bad service balls six times in succession, which was pleasantly annoying for her rival. Moya wasn’t far behind in the act as well and shouted ‘ouch’ after a delicate touch of the ball on his service return.
All in all, it was good to see big guns making their way to the courts, pleasing the crowd with their tennis skills, flavoured with a slight touch of humour to make it spicier for the fans.
“My wife is an actress, my acting is not very good. But tonight, it's about having some fun. Being on court with these three great players is fun for us. It's not too serious that was the goal tonight.” Sampras
explained his feelings on performing in this exhibition event.
World number five, Li Na, was not far behind from these tennis greats as she managed to hammer lightning quick smashes across the court that literally tore her opponent apart. She was excited to see such a huge
response to her event as expressed her delight by citing: “I felt so relaxed cooperating with him. I never imagined one day I would play with him in doubles, and it became easy for me. He's done everything, so I just stood, watched and enjoyed the victory."
Lisicki was also elated to attend such a fun filled event and liked the fact that it was not at all tiring to play in such a fascinating atmosphere. Li Na avoided any questions being asked about her contest with
Lisicki in Wimbledon when she lost to her and stated that she didn’t want any kind of questions about titles and serious stuff at the moment. The Chinese number one wanted to enjoy that night and journalist could ask her questions like that later.
