Pete Spratt wins bout against Martin Grandmont at Instinct 2 MMA event – MMA News
The Instinct 2 MMA event which features mixed martial arts (MMA) events was held on December 2, 2011.The forty-year old American MMA fighter Pete Spratt won the bout over Martin Grandmount. Spratt was emotionally stricken because he was fighting in the bout soon after his grandmother passed away. Spratt has been having a rough career with his MMA professional career.
He has lost five bouts in the past two years. In the year 2011, Spratt won only two fights from his four bouts. He won the bout in Maximum Fighting Championship (MFC) 29 event in April 2011 against Demi Deeds but lost to Marcus Davis at MFC 30 in June 2011.
For Spratt, entering into the Instinct 2 event was a do or die situation for the fighter who has been trying to save his career due to the losses he has been facing recently. On December 2, 2011, he faced Martin Grandmont, the Canadian fighter who stands at six feet in height.
Nicknamed, the hammer, Grandmont was doing well in the fight against Spratt but the latter prevailed in the fight. Spratt, who was part of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) left the promotion in 2007 due to his below average performance while his stay in the UFC.
He made his UFC debut at UFC 37.5 against Zach Light in June 2002. He took part in seven bouts in the UFC. He won only three bouts and lost four. His last fight in UFC was against Tamdan McCrory at UFC Fight Night event in June 2007.
The fighter from Texas, Spratt, came into the fight ring with a heavy heart. The loss of his grandmother was a huge shock for him and also a reason for his sadness as he was unable to retain his energetic stance in the fight. During the fight, Grandmont kept his offensive moves going against Spratt.
In the first round, Grandmont made his effort in putting down Spratt but could not do so. He was continuously trying to put pressure on Spratt with his kicks and punches throughout the fight. Spratt managed to keep standing after every blow and also gained some edge with his counter attacks. In the end, it was Spratt who came out victorious.
