Peter Aschenbrenner’s Paradox hit Multihull class victory at Les Voiles de St. Barth
After putting up a great sailing display on the Caribbean waters, France’s Peter Aschenbrenner along with the crew on their boat, Paradox, finally hit the top podium spot in the Multihull class at the end of the 2012 Les Voiles de St. Barth regatta. The
champions clinched two bullets and two second finishes grabbing the leading spot of the fleet.
The Multihull class enjoyed outstanding water conditions on the race course and completed four scheduled races impressively on time. The final day started with a moderate shifty breeze along with some fluctuating gusts but it was an easy go for the fleet
and the crews completed the final day proceedings quite easily to formulate the final results.
However, Peter Aschenbrenner’s Paradox tied with Lloyd Thornburg’s Gunboat 66, Phaedo, with the score line of 6-6 and secured first two podiums. Paradox clinched the first race to get an easy lead over the fleet followed by a second finish to earn three
points. The third race brought them another second position to extend their lead. The final day was another successful finish for the fleet leaders as they hit the second bullet to book the top spot.
Meanwhile, Lloyd Thornburg’s Gunboat 66, Phaedo began the regatta with a second finish on the opening day. The bullets in the next two races were enough to take them to the second spot of the fleet standings. The second finish in the final race added more
spice and the crew hit a tie with the first placed Paradox.
The top three finishers of the Multihull class were presented awards. The award ceremony took place on a stage in the Race Village on the Quai General de Gaulle in Gustavia.
Overall result of Groupe Multihull after 4 races
