Peter Bourjos can invite interest from Miami Marlins as trade option-MLB Update
Outfielder, Peter Bourjos can be traded to the Miami Marlins by the Los Angeles Angels, given the fact that the latter has many players of this position existing on their roster.
Indeed, the Marlins need an outfielder. If they begin negotiations with the Angels for Bourjos, most probably they will be responded to positively.
However coming to the Marlins will not be an ideal scenario for Bourjos.
The way the Marlins treated some of their star players during this offseason has made the rest of the major leaguers playing in other teams reluctant to join them.
The Marlins have assumed an undesirable reputation of being a kind of club that gets rid of their players immediately after signing them.
Not giving them many opportunities to prove, they are known for showing little trust in them.
What happened with Jose Reyes can be a case in point.
Reyes was hired from free agency as part of the spending spree of the Marlins before the start of the 2012 season, but his stay lasted for just one year.
He has been traded to the Toronto Blue Jays. The example of Reyes has discouraged the potential Marlins players to such an extent that they are willing to go anywhere but Miami.
Against this backdrop, it is not difficult to understand why Bourjos will have reservations going into the Marlins.
Bourjos is not oblivious to the fact that the Angels are poised to trade some of their outfielders for having abundance supply of them.
"Obviously, this game's a business, and you know that going into it that you can eventually be traded," Bourjos said. "If you have an opportunity, from a management standpoint, to sign Josh Hamilton, I think you do it. And then, wherever the pieces fall
with me or whatever they do, you handle that aspect."
Bourjos has hinted that ever since signing contract with Josh Hamilton by the Angels, the probability of his trade has increased.
Certainly, if he is traded, he will be disappointed for leaving the club.
At the moment, there is no official progress made by the Marlins as well as the Angels with regard to the trade of Bourjos.
The next couple of weeks can see some developments taking place in this regard.
