Peter Casey’s Flemenstar expected to take the crown in the Grade 1 Fairyhouse's Powers Gold Cup
The Grade 1 Fairyhouse's Powers Gold Cup is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 8th April, 2012, featuring some of the best runners Ireland has to offer.

The ground at Fairyhouse has been thoroughly inspected and the trainers have given a positive response to the track.
Flemenstar, son of Flemensfirth, out of mare, Different Dee, will be competing as the race favourite with odds of 6 to 4.

His trainer, Peter Casey, is pleased with how the track looks, as he told the media that: "My son Peter and owner Stephen Curran visited the track and are delighted. In fact they said if your horse wanted fast ground you'd be disappointed.
"All in all I'm thrilled and Flemenstar will go there. He is in great shape."
The seven-year-old gelding bagged a victory in the Grade 3 Naas Directors Plate Novice Chase at Naas on 11th March, 2012, where he raced as the joint favourite with, Bog Warrior, and took the competition as he defeated, Frisco
Depot, by 5 ½ lengths.
Cross Appeal, trained by Noel Meade for owner, John Corr, will compete in Sunday’s event.
Meade is also happy with the condition of the track, as he stated to the press that: "I am very happy with the ground after walking it and it's all systems go."
This will be the seasonal debut for the son of Cape Cross, out of Hadeb. The six-year-old gelding triumphed in the Paddy Power Chase (Grade B Handicap) at Leopardstown on 27th December, 2011, where he was mounted by P. Carberry.

It was a narrow victory for him as he finished ¾ of a length before Treacle.
Call The Police and Bishopsfurze will both compete in this event, representing trainer Willie Mullins. Call The Police, son of Accordion, out of Evangelica, acquired a placed position in the prestigious Cheltenham Festival, where he was the mount for
P. Townend.
He stood third in the Grade 1 RSA, as he finished 11 massive lengths after the runner-up First Lieutenant, on 14th March, 2012.
The race is highly anticipated among the fans and enthusiasts of the sport. With such a talented line-up, it is bound to be an exciting race.
