Peter Ebdon ambitious to beat Jimmy White’s record: 2012 Australian Goldfields Open
In the last weeks of previous snooker season brought good news for the former World Snooker Championship winner, England’s Peter Ebdon when he claimed the title of the 2012 China Open snooker tournament after beating the Scotsman by the score line of 10-9.
He started his new snooker season with some tremendous performance in the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker event but was unable to win the title.
However, the Englishman did not lose his heart and continued his good form. He started his campaign in the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker tournament at the Bendigo Stadium arena in Victoria with tremendous victory against Michael Holt by the score
line of 5-4.
The Englishman was in full swing and performed impressively which took him into the final encounter of the event where he will face the winner of the 2012 Snooker Shootout tournament, Barry Hawkins.
Ebdon is in good shape and is playing well in the major ranking events of the new season. In the semi-final encounter of the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open, Ebdon played against Hong Kong’s Marco Fu and defeated him by the score line of 6-2. The Englishman
is aiming to continue his good form and break the record of Jimmy White.
He spoke to the semi-final victory, “I'm really happy with that performance. I knew that I had to put in a good performance today and to beat somebody as good as Marco 6-2 in a semi-final, I've got to be thrilled to bits with that. I'm delighted to be in
the final.”
He added, “It played like a completely new table, the balls were lighter and it was a pleasure to play on, but it found us out at various times. There are no easy games. But I played really solid today. It’s not easy to win ranking events but I’m in the
final again – and I’ll be trying for my life.”
White claimed 10 major ranking snooker titles during his career run. If Ebdon manages to claim the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker event, he will equal the Whirlwind’s record. Ebdon is quite determined to play better in the upcoming major ranking
events and prove his class.
