Peter Ebdon hits final spot beating Marco Fu in 2012 Australian Goldfields Open – Snooker Update
Penultimate stage clash of the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open between the former World Snooker Championship winner, England’s Peter Ebdon and Hong Kong’s Marco Fu did not finish according to the expectations. The match was an easy win for the Englishman
as Ebdon performed tremendously in the semi-final encounter and was able to trounce Fu by the score line of 6-2.
The clash was expected to be one of the toughest games but Ebdon made it look quite easy against Fu. The first session of the game was dominated by the English potter as he grabbed an early lead. However, the situation of the game remained the same where
the Englishman dominated the match with his classy snooker genius. Fu had no chance against Ebdon and tumbled down easily in the end.
While speaking to World Snooker after the finish of the match, Ebdon said, “Obviously there are no easy games and Marco is a world-class player. He probably played as well as anybody in the tournament prior to today and, to be perfectly honest, I think he
struggled to get used to the new cloth, the speed of the cloth.”
The former champ added, “Obviously it was re- clothed yesterday and it was a new table for both of us in effect.”
Ebdon had a tremendous start in the semi-final clash and clinched a 4-1 lead when the first session finished. Fu could win only one frame after that while the English cueman breezed to victory with the eighth frame win by the score line of 6-2. Ebdon will
be facing the winner of the 2012 Snooker Shootout event, compatriot Barry Hawkins in the final match.
The 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker tournament has featured some tremendous games from the start of the event at the Bendigo Stadium arena in Victoria. Potters from around the world gave the best of their performance during their campaign. The Australian
snooker lovers also supported the second edition of the Aussie event and came to watch their favourite potters.
It will be exciting to see Ebdon take on Barry Hawkins in the final as both players are in very good form and will be looking to put in a tremendous performance to take the title.
