Peter Hanson aims to lead the Volvo China Open
After facing a loss at the Masters, Peter Hanson is moving forward, eyeing the upcoming Volvo China Open, from April 19 to 22, 2012.
The 34-year-old Swedish professional golf player finished the Masters on the third position, scoring 8-under 280. He was so close to the victory but impressive scoring from two other professionals took him down. He finished two strokes behind the leader.
In a recent interview, he shared that he is not disappointed about finishing on the third and aims high for the upcoming European Tour staged event at the Binhai Lake Golf Club in Tianjin, China.
“I am very proud of the performance,” said Hanson, “I have to say when I left the 18th green on Sunday I was a little bit disappointed, but that left me pretty quick”.
Since January, he has played on both the PGA Tour and the Europe Tour, and delivered his best on the golf courses. He is among those limited number of players who can perform well at both the Tours at the same time.
He recorded several top-5 finishes in the current year and is the hottest contender of the title in China.
He was the runner-up at Commercialbank Qatar Masters, presented by Dolphin Energy, and finished tied for the fifth spot at World Golf Championships - Accenture Match Play Championship.
Similarly, he continued his leading scoring performance at the WGC- Cadillac Championship and recorded T4 position, by scoring better than the others.
He displayed an amazing performance since day-one and he is again aiming to be on top of the Volvo China Open leaderboard. There are ample chances left for him to lead, however, he only has to compete against the other field members.
Nicolas Colsaerts is the defending champion of the tournament. He scored 24-under 264 and won the title with a lead of four strokes in 2011. He is also in the field and holds huge viewership throughout the four-day tournament.
Hanson should focus on all the title contenders. The field is tough and victory is not easy. Similarly, the tournament site is also difficult in terms of scoring well. If Hanson continues his enormous scoring performance, he can lead.
