Peter Hanson joins Graeme McDowell, Scott Jamieson and Peter Whiteford in lead: Barclays Scottish Open
The 140th edition of Barclays Scottish Open has stepped into the final round at the par-72 Castle Stuart Golf Links in Inverness, Scotland. Here is a quick look at the leaderboard after the second round.
Graeme McDowell, Scott Jamieson, Peter Whiteford and Peter Hanson lead the field with a score of 11-under par.
McDowell composed the course lowest on Friday to surge into the lead. The Northern Irishman teed-off from the back and reeled six birdies alongside a fabulous eagle on the par-5, 12th hole.
He was joined by Jamieson, who despite facing unknown greens fired two eagles and six birdies to post a score of 66. The amateur has been a delight to watch since the start of the tournament, owing to his meticulous approach in the
greens.
Swede sensation, Hanson joined the trio on Sunday after teeing-off in the early timings. The player birdied six holes and surged into lead. His score was matched by world number one Luke Donald, Jose Manuel Lara and Barry Lane.
Donald is one-stroke behind the four leaders with a score of ten-under-par. He caught six birdies after the round resumed on Sunday. The tournament was put to halt on Friday afternoon after poor weather conditions made the course
unplayable.
Lee Westwood, who is bidding to overthrow Donald from the Official World Golf Rankings, is two strokes behind his opponent. He failed to emulate his first-round score and faltered in the second round. The Englishman dropped two shots
against three birdies, which left him standing in a group of thirteen players, which included Colin Montgomerie.
Montgomerie, who served as the captain of the 2010 Ryder Cup squad, posted a 69 with the help of five birdies. The veteran is looking forward to win a place in the field of Open Championship by finishing in the Top-5 by the end of
the weekend.
While talking to the press, the Scott said, "I'm trying my best, but it's a long shot now. I have a long way to go and I needed two more rounds to be honest.
I'll have to play like Luke - no mistakes. I'm throwing in too many errors."
Montgomerie was joined by Padraig Harrington, Justin Rose and Matt Kuchar.
