Peter Hill-Wood denies Arsenal having any interest in Joey Barton – Premier League Update
Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has gone ahead and dismissed any and all rumours that claim Joey Barton to have been on the Gunners radar, prior to his move to Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314.
Barton, was part of the Newcastle United side that went on to draw with Arsenal on the opening day of fixtures in the Premier League. However, the game was barred with Barton and the Gunners players having a go at each other and resulted in Gervinho being shown a red card for flicking Barton in the face.
Barton recently came forth and admitted that his tussle with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gervinho-c14755 could have potentially cost him a move to Arsenal and since then, a number of experts have been talking about the potential of this deal.
Hill-Wood has come forth and rubbished these rumours as he has suggested that these stories are mere rumours. Hill-Wood admitted that had a move for Barton been on the cards, then he was more than likely to have heard of it.
Hill-Wood is quoted to have said: “It's not something the board heard about and if it was a serious proposition I certainly would have expected us to.”
The midfielder eventually went on to join QPR and has since been promoted to the team’s captain. On the other hand, Arsenal have landed the duo of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yossi-Benayoun-c37520 to try and shape up their midfield.
At the moment, it seems like Barton’s decision to join QPR was a smart one, considering the fact that the newly promoted side are sitting in the ninth spot in the league and are well ahead of Arsenal, who seem to be in a crisis of some sort.
Had http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 made a move for Barton, then they would have landed a player, who would guarantee a number of decent performances, but would also guarantee madness on and off the pitch.
As a result, it seems like all the parties involved are now better off, looking at the way things have turned out.
