Peter Hoeg Gade beats Rajiv Ouseph to enter into Men’s Singles final of the 2011 Copenhagen Masters
Denmark’s experienced player, Peter Hoeg Gade, has powered his way into Men’s Singles final after winning his last match of Group A against England’s Rajiv Ouseph at the Copenhagen Masters 2011, in Denmark, on Wednesday, December 28.
The World Number Four Peter Gade, who is known as the best shuttler in whole Europe, had to dig into his arsenal to produce better strokes against the spirited Ouseph. The Danish worked really hard for three games and emerged as the winner of the contest
in 53 minutes.
Peter Gade won the first set with a one-sided margin by playing at his best. However, he lost his control over the pace of the rallies and lost the game with a huge difference. In the final set, he played well and remained successful in getting rid of the
stubborn Ouseph.
Right from the opening points of the first game, both shuttlers played aggressive and positive badminton. No one could take lead until the interval in the opening half when the higher ranked Danish was slightly ahead at 11-9.
After the interval, Peter Gade started to play deceptive strokes from all areas of the court and controlled the pace of the game. He remained positive and focused in the whole set and took it with a striking margin of 21-14.
In the second set, both men played competitive game until the score reached at 8-8. At this stage, Ouseph played to his maximum potential and took a small lead of 11-8 at the end of first half.
After the break, Peter Gade lost his focus in the game while Ouseph continued his stunning performance. The Danish failed to stop the progressive performance of his English opponent and lost the set with a surprising score of 12-21.
In the final set, Peter Gade found his flow and played positive game until the break when he reached at 11-8. After the break, he continued his dominating run in the match and remained successful in finishing the set with a comfortable 21-15 score on the
board.
This Men’s Singles rubber-set contest ended in the favour of Peter Gade, who ended it with a margin of 21-14, 12-21 and 21-15.
In the final of the tournament, Peter Gade will be up against his younger team-mate, Jan O Jorgensen.
