Peter Hoeg Gade confident to make his last attempt fruitful at the 2011 World Championships
Denmark’s mega star, Peter Hoeg Gade, is confident to make his last attempt fruitful by winning the Men’s Singles title at the 2011 World Championships, starting from August 8, at the Wembley Arena in London.
The 34-year-old Gade, who is the most successful shuttler in Europe, is in good shape and wants to play to his full potential in this mega event. He is one of the most stylish players in the world of badminton and is one of the major contenders for the title
in this world meet.
World Number Three in the international rankings, Gade, said that his hunger to win the title in the World Championships has always kept him pushing forward and he is still passionate to grab the crown.
While talking about his span of 15 years as a professional shuttler, Gade said, “I am surprised that I have lasted this long. I am staying on until next year’s Olympic Games. I have one more world meet here and that’s it.”
He further added, “There is no better place to end my quest for the world title than Wembley. This place has a lot of history and I am happy just to be a part of it.
In the 2011 World Championships, Gade is placed in the lower half of the draw, in which Lin Dan of China will also start his journey. The Danish veteran is one of the most mature shuttlers in the world, as he has the ability to deal effectively with top
seeds in the event.
Gade said, “I have to look at new ways to keep up with the other players, especially with the world’s top two Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei. I am physically at a high level and I believe that I can still optimise my condition.”
The third seeded Danish is making his 11th appearance at the World Championships, but unfortunately he has been unable to win the title until now. However, this time he is determined to put everything he has against all his opponents, to make
his last appearance memorable.
