Peter Hoeg Gade in good shape to compete at the 2011 World Championships – Badminton News
Denmark’s Men’s Singles shuttler, Peter Hoeg Gade, is currently in wonderful shape to compete at the upcoming 2011 World Championships, starting at the Wembley Arena, in London on August 8.
The 34-year-old Peter Gade, who is currently ranked at Number Three in the Men’s Singles world rankings, has been playing top-class badminton for the last seven months. Despite his age, the Danish veteran has been playing with great spirit for the last couple
of years.
Getting at the Number Three spot in the world rankings at the age of 34 is something impressive, as it needs the highest level of dedication and commitment from a player. Peter Gade has been putting all his efforts in the recent past to remain at the top.
While talking about his current physical condition, Peter Gade said, “I feel I'm in really good shape. I have been progressing the way I want in training by adding a few per cent here and there into my game.”
Peter Gade is the third seed in the event and he was also lucky in attaining a favourable draw. He is set to meet Rajiv Ouseph of England, Simon Santoso of Indonesia and Nguyen Tien Minh of Vietnam on his way to semi-final match, where the Danish shuttler
will meet second seed, Lin Dan of China.
While speaking about the draw, Pater Gade added, “I am quite satisfied with this draw. I will be up against England's Rajiv Ouseph in the first round - a tricky match but still it could be worse and I've had a good run against him so far.”
The Danish player knows that Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei and China’s Lin Dan have great chances to lift the title. He said, “All the best players will be present in London and I reckon it will be an exciting World Championships. I'm all prepared for this competition.”
Gade is determined to perform well against every opponent, as he is eyeing his first Men’s Singles crown at the World Championships, which is a missing title in his legacy.
