Peter Hoeg Gade luckily wins against Kazushi Yamada in first round of India Open Super Series
Denmark’s Peter Hoeg Gade luckily beat Kazushi Yamada of Japan in the first round of Men’s Singles in the India Open Super Series 2011, on April 27.
The Number three seed, Peter took 59 minutes to beat Kazushi in a thrilling three-set fight. In the second round, the Danish will fight against Sho Sasaki of Japan, who defeated Anand Pawar of India in the first round.
Kazushi delivered a stunning performance in the opening set of the match against the former World Number 1 Danish shuttler. Peter failed to play his usual game in the first set, whereas the Japanese was performing at his best. Kazushi took a wonderful lead
of 11-5 in the first half of the set. He continued his impressive game after the interval and won the set in 20 minutes with a huge margin of 21-13.
The second game was a thrilling fight between the two superb shuttlers in the world of Badminton. Kazushi remained ahead of the opponent in the first half of the second set. Peter was trailing far behind the Japanese shuttler at 5-11. However he narrowed
the gap by accelerating his speed and by playing positively.
Kazushi was leading the game at 17-12 where Gade worked well and closed the gap by reaching 17-19. The Japanese player was just one point away from victory as he was at 20-19, but Gade’s tremendous game had levelled the score by reaching 20-20. At this important
stage of the game, Peter utilised his extensive experience and won the set with a 22-20 margin, in 25 minutes.
It was a one sided fight in the final set, where Peter remained quick from the start of the game. He left no room for the Japanese player to score more points. The third seed quickly established a big lead of 11-4 in the opening half of the set.
After changing sides of the court at the interval, Peter continued his usual attacking game and clinched the final set with an impressive margin of 21-8, in just 14 minutes. The final score of this three-set fight was 13-21, 22-20 and 21-8.
