Peter Hoeg Gade shows his class against Marc Zwiebler in first round: Yonex Japan Open Super Series
Denmark’s veteran shuttler, Peter Hoeg Gade showed his class against Germany’s top seed, Marc Zwiebler in the first round of Men’s Singles at the 2011 Yonex Japan Open Super Series, in Japan, on Wednesday, September 21.
Peter Gade has been playing tremendous badminton for the last eight months indicating that he is still young, despite reaching at the age of 34. The Danish is currently enjoying Number Three position in the Men’s Singles world standings, which proves his
dedication and commitment as a professional shuttler.
The Danish played wonderful badminton in the opening round of Japan Open and finished-off the match in straight sets, by taking just 35 minutes. Zwiebler played well in the second game but lost his focus in the concluding phase and lost the battle to the
higher ranked Danish.
The opening game of the match was easy for third seed, Peter Gade, as he played with a wonderful touch of deception and precision. The Danish is known for his beautiful net strokes and incredible anticipation, which gives him an added advantage over his
opponents in the court. He established a remarkable lead in the opening half by reaching at 11-6.
Zwiebler tried to accelerate his speed to stop the aggressive run of the Danish shuttler, but failed to tackle the skill and class of his rival. Peter Gade finished the first game in scintillating fashion with the score of 21-15, in 16 minutes.
In the second game, Zwiebler changed his tactics and played safe badminton which helped him build a good lead in the first-half, as he reached 11-7. The German was leading the second-half of the game with a considerable margin of 18-14, when the Danish strongly
came back from behind and won the set by scoring seven consecutive points with the margin of 21-18, in 19 minutes.
Peter Gade delivered a phenomenal performance in his opening match and emerged as the winner with a margin of 21-15 and 21-18, by taking only 36 minutes of court time.
