Peter Hoeg Gade stretches his winning streak to penetrate into quarter-final at London Olympics
Denmark’s experienced shuttler Peter Hoeg Gade showed his elite class and reserved his berth in Men’s Singles quarter-final after showing exit to Korea’s Son Wan Ho in the round-of-16 showdown at the 2012 London Olympics on Wednesday, August 1, at Wembley
Arena, London.
The World Number 5 Gade, who is also seeded fifth in Men’s Singles draw of Olympics, showed his hard-to-learn skills on court and easily gave a severe lesson to his lower ranked Korean opponent in an emphatic fashion.
Gade, who is playing his last Olympics, was impressive as he did not consume much time on court and easily sealed off a spectacular win against Wan Ho by finishing off the match in straight games with a superb margin.
On the other hand, the World Number 15 Wan Ho could not put up strong resistance against the perfect play of Gade and also remained unable to dictate rallies at any stage. He lost the match easily to his Danish rival without snatching any game from him.
The aggressive Gade played with wonderful control in his shots and remained successful in taking a superb lead at the early stage.
The in-form Danish veteran played to his maximum potential and remained successful in winning an impressive lead on score board until the end of opening half.
After the mid-game interval, the fifth seeded Gade continued his tremendous performance without showing any mercy to his rival and easily wrapped up the first set with an incredible 21-9 margin on the score board.
In the following game, Wan Ho played better badminton while increasing his speed at net. He did not let Gade to dominate the rallies at net and remained stick around on score board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Gade changed his tactics and played with precision from rear-court area which helped him to create pressure on his Korean challenger.
The impressive Danish shuttler was on a different level at the ending points of second set and he snatched it with a striking 21-16 score on the board.
Gade ended up this pre-quarter-final battle in straight sets with a dominating margin of 21-9 and 21-16.
