Peter Hoeg Gade tames Wong Wing Ki in Men’s Singles first round of Malaysia Open Super Series 2012
Denmark’s veteran shuttler, Peter Hoeg Gade, proved that he is still the best in the business as he tamed Hong Kong’s Wong Wing Ki in the Men’s Singles first round of Malaysia Open Super Series 2012 on Wednesday, January 11, in Malaysia.
The World Number Four Peter Hoeg Gade who has been in the top-10 bracket for almost a decade, played in his usual aggressive style and overpowered Wing Ki in a straight-set contest.
The higher ranked Danish showed his superb skills and ended the contest in style by working for 44 minutes in the court.
Wing Ki played competitive badminton against Peter Gade but failed to dominate the rallies at the concluding phase in both games and lost the match with a decent score on the board.
The Hong Kong shuttler had no answer to the perfect play of his higher ranked Danish rival and crashed out without winning a single set.
Peter Gade, who is known for his fighting spirit and aggressive style of play, cheered the crowd with his top class skills and proved too strong for the lower ranked Wing Ki. He remained composed in the whole opening game without letting his rival to build a lead.
The deceptive strokes of Peter Gade disturbed the momentum of Hong Kong shuttler and controlled the pace in ending phase of the game.
Wing Ki could not play positive game in the concluding points as he made a few unforced errors which helped Peter Gade to end the set with a tight score of 21-19.
In the second set, both men provided a wonderful entertainment to the local crowd by playing attacking badminton in the opening half of second set. The score was 12-12 when Peter Gade took over the control and pushed his rival in all corners of the court.
The fourth seed Danish shuttler remained in superb control in the concluding half of second game and did not drop his speed even for a single rally.
Peter Gade continued his positive run and ended the second game with a decent score of 21-18. The final result of this entertaining 44-minute battle was 21-19 and 21-18.
