Peter Hoeg Gade wants to become professional coach after his retirement from competitive badminton
Denmark’s legendary shuttler, Peter Hoeg Gade, who has been enjoying his professional career for almost two decades, wants to become a coach after his retirement from competitive badminton. He is expected to quit from playing professional tournaments after
2012 Olympic Games.
Peter Hoeg Gade, who has just turned into 35, has been playing remarkable badminton for the last one decade. He has been remained in the top-10 and proved he has defeated the age factor. He is currently ranked at number four in the Men’s Singles world standings.
Undeniably the best shuttler in whole Europe, Peter Gade has won numerous titles during his professional career and now he wants to remain in touch with badminton in the form of a coach. He wants to transfer his superb skills to the young shuttlers of Denmark
and help them in the improvement and elevation of their skills.
He has officially announced that the Olympic Games will be his last international tournament of his professional career but he intends to take retirement in front of his home crowd by playing at the Copenhagen Masters which will take place in December, 2012.
After his retirement, he will help the young shuttlers which becoming a full time coach.
He said, "The trainer role is close to my heart. My career will end soon, and there have been other things under consideration, but I have always had the feeling that I would be a coach in one or another context.”
He further added, "I love working with people, influencing them on a mental level and working to the limits of both parties involved. It is something I have done in my career, and it could be fun to be on the other side too.”
However, he also knows that it will not be simple as he also wants to spend time with his family and will not travel too far for coaching because of family commitments.
Peter Gade’s professional career is full of victories as he has been the only European shuttler who has been a stumbling block against the Men’s Singles top shuttlers from China, Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia.
It will not be difficult for him to establish his name as a good coach as he has an extensive experience of international badminton.
