Peter Hood says Bradford Bulls fans can look forward to a brighter future – Rugby League news
Peter Hood, the chairman of Bradford Bulls has issued an apology to his franchise fans, for a disappointing 2011 season, which was expected to improve this year.
Bulls have finished off the current Super League season at their lowest ever standing within the league ladder, i.e. tenth position. With only nine wins out of a total of 27 fixtures played, Bulls are sitting out of the super league play-offs for their third
consecutive year.
Previously, Bulls were known for their brilliance in Super League palette, which enabled them to reach the Grand final for five successive years until 2005.
Since then they have never reached back to their form for which they had drawn so much appreciation for so many years.
Dismayed by his outfits’ consistent bad performance, Hood felt the need for a public apology to their fans, who have always supported the club through their thick and thin.
In his apology, Hood said, “I want to publicly acknowledge the pain that every fan is feeling because 2011 was a very poor season for the Bulls, a situation made worse by the excitement and expectation generated by a new era under a new head coach. Some
of our performances simply weren't quite good enough. We need to fix things up and we will.To their credit the fans kept coming week after week. That's why today I want to offer fans a sincere apology for what they've had to put up with this year.”
Hood acknowledged that his team had failed to perform up to the required mark but fans were patient enough to bear with their dwindling performance week after week.
However, contrary to the popular speculation, the team failed to improve on its loose ends after the uptake of Mick Potter as Bradford Bulls new coach.
There were ten new recruits under Potter but the on-field situation remained almost the same.
Hood spelled it out that there is need for some major fixing up, which needs to be looked into with care by his squad in future.
