Peter Lines aiming to get back into Top 48: 2012-13 Snooker Season – Snooker News
Previous snooker season did not bring any good news for the Englishman Peter Lines because he was unable to qualify for any of the major ranking snooker events. He also tumbled down in the World Snooker Rankings and now he is World Number 53 potter. Lines
is desperately looking to improve his rankings and is aiming to get back into the World’s Top 48.
While speaking to the local media, Lines said, “The highest I’ve been is 33, but that was a while back. A few years ago, I fell off the tour because of family problems and I wasn’t practising hard enough. It was my own fault really. But since I returned,
I’ve sort of set myself realistic goals.”
He added, “I would like to get back into the top 48 and then take it from there as when you do that, then you are guaranteed money. When you are just outside, you’ve got to win a match to get in the money. Once you are in the 48, you can kind of relax. It’s
always nice to qualify to play at the televised venues as well.”
Lines had a sound start to the 2012-13 Snooker Season with a superb victory against Joel Walker by the score line of 5-4 in the qualifying session of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker event. However, later he crashed out of the tournament at the hands of Welshman
Dominic Dale by the score line of 4-5.
After that he tried his luck in the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open qualifiers but could not succeed and lost to Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon of Thailand by 4-5 in the opening match. To improve his ranking, Lines must qualify for a major ranking snooker tournament.
Another way to get back to Top 48 is playing impressively in the Players Tour Championship events.
However, his 16-year-old son, Oliver Lines is appearing in the 2012 World Junior Under-21 Snooker Championship in China. Lines senior is coaching him and believes that his son will make a strong debut in the mega event. Oliver Lines is currently practising
with his father at a local academy in Sheffield.
