Peter Luczak advances into the final at the Rabat Challenger
Australian Peter Luczak destroyed Tunisian wild card entrant Malek Jaziri with a breadstick. He earned a 6-4, 6-1 win over the Tunisian to advance to the final at the 2011 Morocco Tennis Tour on Friday.
Facing each other for the first time, Luczak registered an amazing 74 percent win on his lower first serve and converted one out of five breakpoint opportunity to his advantage to clinch the opening set 6-4. The 31-year-old displayed
his tremendous skills in this first set as he saved the only breakpoint and fired a ferocious ace to take the lead.
Luczak, who was ousted from the qualaifiers at Sydney, Costa do Sauipe, Buenos Aires and Acapulco was in his top form in this event. He triumphed over Frenchmen, Auqustin Gensse and Jonathan Dasnieres de Veigy, and Czech Dosan
Lojda in straight sets in the previous rounds. The Australian carried his winning momentum to the final set and held his opening serve through his fascinating skills. Despite having a lower first serve percentage of 44 percent as opposed to Jaziri’s 63 percent,
he earned an exceptional 88 percent win on it. Furthermore, he only conceded a single game and by converting two out of five breakpoint opportunities, he won the final set with a breadstick.
He will face Czech Ivo Minar in the final. Minar dumped Slovakian Martin Klizan in straight sets on another court.
The 26-year-old Minar, who hasn’t had much progress this season so far, played his best tennis to trash 21-year-old Slovak out of this tournament by registering a 6-4, 6-3 win.
On the other side of net, 169th Ranked Klizan, who made 2nd round exits at Heilbronn, Bergamo and Casablanca Challenger, was in good shape in this tournament. He hasn’t lost a set and defeated French Maxime
Teixeira, 2ndseeded Czech Jan Hajek and Spanish Guillermo Alcaide to reach the semi-final.
In the opening set, Minar showed his extraordinary skills and had a much higher first serve share of 70 percent as compared to youngster’s 40 percent. He committed zero double faults as compared to Klizan’s three and also registered
an astonishing 94 percent win on it. With a single break of Slovakian’s serve, Minar won the set 6-4.
The Czech stayed on track in the final set and committed less unforced errors and saved the only break through his awesome agility. He then holds on to his entire serves and earned a single break of serve to clinch the match in
70 minutes.
