Peter Mankoc of Slovenia displayed his astonishing efforts and acquired gold medal of the Men’s 100m Individual Medley on fourth day of the 2011 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Szczecin, Poland on Sunday, December 11.
The 33-year-old Mankoc experienced severe battle from Markus Deibler of Germany and Martti Aljand of Estonia in the IM discipline. With his elevated efforts, the Slovenian athlete outshined his opponents in the four lap event and reached the podium for gold
medal.
He was the first swimmer to leap into the water, where his immaculate strokes coupled with his gruelling strategy placed him significantly ahead of his competitors. With his promising swim, Mankoc completed his first round of the race in a wonderful time
of 23.47 seconds.
With his tremendous effort, he remained 0.74 seconds ahead of Deibler, who completed his initial round with a second fastest time of 24.21 seconds. He was trailed by Aljand, who remained 0.42 seconds slower and ended his round in a time of 24.63 seconds.
Subsequently, the swimmers went wild in the final round of the race. Mankoc’s dominance in the first round played a vital role in his victory, as he ended his second round with an effort of 29.23 seconds to post 52.70 seconds for gold medal.
His gold winning effort remained 1.94 seconds slower than the European and world record of 50.76 seconds, owned by Mankoc in Istanbul during 2009.
