Peter Miller will look to land the Real Quiet Stakes for the second time runner with Senor Rain
An ungraded event for 2-year-old, the $100,000 Real Quiet Stakes which will lead them towards the richest race of autumn, the Grade 1 $750,000 CashCall Hollywood Futurity on 17 December, 2011, at Hollywood Park.
Peter Miller along with Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer and Ben Cecil will be looking to become the first trainers to win the Real Quiet Stakes twice over. Peter Miller will be sending out Senor Rain, who has turned in topsy-turvy performance so
far in his first year of racing as a 2-year-old.
The son of El Nino, out of the mare Make My Marq by Marquetry, Senor Rain is owned by Cecil Barber and Gary Barber. The juvenile colt won a maiden claimer at Del Mar on 12 August, 2011, over at six furlongs under Garrett Gomez in his second attempt.
He completed the six furlong distance in 1 minute and 10.29 seconds and in the process defeated Quality Elusion and Danger Ranger, who finished second and third respectively over the synthetic surface.
Next up Senor Rain was sent to take part in a non graded stakes race, the C. B. Afflerbaugh over at six furlongs over Fairplex Park’s dirt course under A Delgadillo. Senor Rain finish second to winner Runstevierun as Inquisitive Son finished third. The winning
time for the seven furlong long race was 1 minute and 26.61 seconds.
The Indiana bred 2-year-old colt came back with a band over a stretched out distance of a mile at Santa Anita Park in a starter claimer on 16 October, 2011, under Martin Garcia.
Senor Rain aced the mile long race in emphatic style, and won it in 1 minute and 38.33 seconds, defeating Inquisitive Son and Quality Elusion, who finished second and third respectively.
On the other hand, trainer Ben Cecil will be sending out the Irish bred son of Choisir, Captain Obvious, out of the mare Taqqara by Spectrum.
Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer will send out his 2-year-old Rousing Sermon, who is coming off a win in the California Cup Juvenile over at 1 1/16 miles on dirt at Santa Anita Park on 29 October, 2011.
