Peter Nelson of Northampton Sailing Club wins RS600 Inland Championship – Sailing news
This year’s RS600 Inland Championship was hosted by Draycote Water Sailing Club under clear blue skies with not much wind and very low water. The lake was tranquil due to lower weather forecast as the nine boat fleet began to sail at Draycote Water SC. However,
despite unfavourable winds, the fleet was able to sail featuring Peter Nelson hitting the top spot after six races with one discard.
Nelson of Northampton Sailing Club showed some excellent performance on both days of RS600 racing with three race victories. Nelson dominated the first day of the event winning the first two races followed by a third position in the third race.
However, the second day was comparatively convincing but not better than the first, as Nelson was able to win only one race but despite that, his two second positions in the first two races of the day and a discard race of the first day brought him on top
of the event standings with seven points.
With a two-point difference, Jamie Manson of Pennine and Ulley secured second position with nine points followed by Ian Marshall of Oxford on third spot with 12 points. Sailor from host club, Draycote Water Sailing Club, Paul Roe could not perform according
to expectations and tumbled down at eighth podium with 36 points.
