Well, my boyfriend's family (basically MY family) Just got in a foreign "exchange" student. I put exchange in quotes because we didn't trade anyone for him lol ;). I found out instead of being a Senior, like my boyfriend, or a Sophomore, like my boyfriend's sister, he will be in the Junior class, with me. I know I'm going to end up being the only one he knows in the class, so I'm going to show him around and things, introduce him to people, etcetera. How can I do this without being confusing, I speak very fast, and if I talk slow I sound condisending because I have to dull down my words when I talk slow or I end up stuttering. Any suggestions on how to do this without hurting his feelings? Should I explain to him that I don't mean to sound like I'm demeaning, I just sound weird when I talk slow?

By the way, the Junior class here is a class of like 21 so we'll be togetther the majority of the day, should I have him sitting by me, or let him branch out and meet people? I'm really nervous because I'll be the only one he knows in our class.

  1. Let him sit with you.  Just be your normal self and yes just ask him if he can understand you and go from there.  Don't worry about it so much.  He won't think you're condescending and he'll be glad to have a friend.
