....or do Britans even know who Peter Philliip is?

We Canadians never knew who he was until it was announced in our papers that he was to marry a Canadian.

He has quite the good looks.............. reminds me of Prince William.

  1. Not many people here actually care about the Royals, it was hardly even advertised here.

  2. Because Princess Anne decided when both her children were born that they should not have titles and therefore not as young adults be required to carry out royal duties, etc. Peter and Zara have very much remained out of the public eye almost all their lives.  Because they don't get much press attention and because Peter, while royal, is so far down the line of succession (#11) ,it does not have the British peoples' interest as much as possibly upcoming more senior members of the monarchy intentions to marry (William and Kate?...now that will be a spectacle!)

The fact that Autumn Kelly is Canadian is, I'm sure, neither here nor there, and Canada is at least a member of the Commonwealth, so he's not off running away with somebody from Russia or someplace.  Autumn did renounce here Catholic upbringing, however, for Peter to retain his order in the line of succession, for what it's worth.

  3. He's  not very well known, id not heard of him until he got married, he's 11th in Line. He seems alright she's very pretty, good luck to em.

  4. Peter Phillips and his sister Zara weren't given a royal titles. This allows both of them to lead normal lives (as normal as they can be, given the circumstances!) and stay out of the spotlight if they choose.

I'm sure Peter is aware of, and probably happy about the fact that he isn't as widely recognized as Princes Harry and William. In an interview for Hello magazine, Autumn admitted that she didn't even know Peter was royalty until she saw him on a documentary about Prince William.

As for me personally, I knew he was Princess Anne's son, but before the wedding I really didn't know much about him at all. This wedding has allowed everyone to catch a glimpse into the quiet life he lives. And I agree, he is quite handsome! Dare I say I think he is slightly more attractive than Prince William.

  5. I dont really know who he is, but he is only like 11th in line for the throne or something. She gave up catholicism so he could still get the throne. Wishful thinking love.

  6. I am pleased he has found such a good looking wife.

He has shown a lot of good taste in marrying a Canadian.

    Good Luck to them both

  7. But he is not Canadian so is not in fact marrying a fellow Canadian.  Don't mind who he marries.

  8. Yes. Princess Anne's son. Didn't know she was canadian tho'

  9. I can hardly contain my indifference

  10. In terms of importance of the Royal family, the only significant ones is the monarch, their children and the children of the Heir Apparent or Heir Presumptive. As Peter Philips is neither but "only" the child of one the monarchs children, who is neither the Heir Apparent or Heir Presumptive, he doesn't get much coverage until he does something significant, such as marry.

As far as whether we know about him, we do but he's not spoken about too frequently; my mum's a stringent royalist so I hear about all of them frequently - I can't the lot of them.

  11. BigD wins this one.

  12. British people are not very interested in this sort of thing.

The minor royals are considered irrelevant.

  13. We know who Peter Phillips (NOT Phillip) is, however, he is a fairly private person and probably the least known of the Queen's grandchildren (with the possible exception of the two youngest). His sister Zara is well known as she is an exceptional equestrian sportswoman in her own right (has won both individual European and World championships). Charles's sons have grown up in the media spotlight and to some extent so have Andrew's daughters.

I knew that Autumn Kelly (now Autumn Phillips) was Canadian as soon as I read about the marriage (on BBC News).

  14. Yes,I did know.Tonight the sun will set.Tomorrow the sun will rise and unless their actions disturb that,I really don't care who married whom.

  15. His parents (Princess Anne & Captain Mark Phillips) chose not to give their children titles so that they could have as close to normal lives as possible. This has clearly worked since there is not much about either of them in the media even here in UK. We also don't care what his bride's nationality is so long as they re happy.

  16. To me he is like many of the minor royals - quite good looking but totally empty headed.  In UK, many people are no longer bothered or interested.  We are far too concerned with how to make ends meet.

  17. His looks certainly run in royal blood.

I say good luck to him. She looks nice and he is a nice guy, I had heard of him and knew he was the first grandchild of our queen. I also knew there was a royal wedding planned too about 3-4 weeks prior to it taking place. (Thanks Google News).

  18. Of course I know who he is.  What makes you think we are all ignorant?  I really don't care who he married and wish him well.

  19. A lot of people know who he is. However, he has not chosen to follow the shallow, sad & pathetic 'celebrity' culture that seems to pre-occupy the press, but to follow a Private life (note the capital). Marriage put his head above the parapet for a short while, but I'm sure he'll return gratefully to obscurity. Good for him!

  20. Princess Anne for years now, has been one royal who has been fed up with the gossips, cruel headlines and harrassments....and so over the years....has remained out of the lime light with her children....giving them the opportunty to

lead private lives, thankfully.  Personally, i can't help but feel, THIS time, they've got it right!!!  what could possibly be more delightful and exciting, than to search for and truely find someone who truely loves you for yourself.....and with them having no idea, who you really are and where you have come from.  Unfortunately, we live in a world that is "impressed" by titles, money, fame,  and etc....which, if you were a royal, it would be almost like trying to find a needle in a haystack, because you would have hundreds of women trying to impress and throwing themselves at him, and being any Mother, of course you would be concerned, if it was the money and showeyness of it all they were after, or was it out of deep lasting love for your son?  Well....now they know, don't they, and what a lovely surprise for all!  The canadian girl will love him for the person he is, and not what he has.
