Peter Phillips is not even royalty. I don't think the fact that she's Canadian was a big issue with most people.

It's a shame that she converted from Catholicism for the wedding. The queens cousin, Prince Michael married a Catholic woman, and he simply pulled himself out of the line of succession. If I'm not mistaken, Prince Michael was as high as 5th in line to the throne when his father died.

Peter Philips would also have been 5th when he was born. He would be behind his mother and his three uncles, but he was moved ahead of his older sister Zara. His six cousins born since then have bumped him down to #11.

Good for him! They have obviously married for love and that's fine by me. Also, he's the 11th in line for the throne, so they are extremely unlikely to ever be crowned, and I think the marriage reflects this. If it was Prince William or Harry, then this would have perhaps been more of an issue, although possibly not. Canada is in the commonwealth after all.
