Peter Richardson aims to extend his lead in the ADT Order of Merit
England’s Peter Richardson is hoping to extend his lead in the Asian Development Tour Order of Merit, when he tees off at PGM-Eastwood Valley Masters, on October 31, 2012.
The PGM-Eastwood Valley Masters is the 11th of the 13 events on the Asian Development Tour roster this season. The US$80,000 tournament will be played at the Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club in Miri.
The Englishman is currently enjoying a great season and is preparing himself for his debut on the Asian Tour next season.
If he succeeds in retaining the top spot or even finishes the 2012 campaign ranked third in the Order of Merit, he will receive full-time playing status for the 2013 Asian Tour season.
In his eight appearances, he has missed only one cut. In addition to that, he also won the PGM ADT Masters Golf Tournament and recorded a second-place finish at the PGM Sarawak Masters a couple of weeks ago.
At the PGM Sarawak Masters, he displayed a really good set of skills throughout the week. However, it was Kenneth De Silva who took the title home after posting a brilliant 65 in the final round.
Despite facing a last-moment defeat, he was still pleased with his overall performance in the tournament.
He now plans to keep the momentum going into the 11th leg of the Asian Development Tour season, which will feature seven of the top-10 players in the Order of Merit.
So far in this season, Richardson has pocketed US$22,827 prize money. His earnings could have been even better, if he had not missed two ADT events earlier this year.
Talking to the Asian Tour’s official website, he stated that he was desperately waiting to make his debut on the Asian Tour.
According to him, he wants to follow the footsteps of Purdue University teammates, Shiv Kapur and Pariya Junhasavasdikul, who have already tasted success on the bigger stage.
“Every opportunity that I get to play in Asia brings me closer to my dream of playing on the Asian Tour. Everything is so well organised that I just have to focus on doing my best,” said Richardson, who turned professional in 2008.
