Peter Sagan bagged his third Tour de France victory
Peter Sagan of Team Liquigas-Cannondale has been nothing short of spectacular right through the start of the 2012 season.
The cyclist continued his tremendous form at the most anticipated race of the year, the Tour de France 2012.
He has now bagged his third stage win of the French race after crossing the 207.5 kilometre chase to Metz in an inspiring time of 4 hour and 37 minutes.
Andre Greipel of Team Lotto Belisol secured the second position with Matthew Harley Goss of Team Orica Green, Kenny Robert Van Hummel of Team Vacansoleil-DCM and Juan Jose Haedo of Team Saxo Bank achieved the next three positions.
His previous two wins came during the stage 1 and the stage 3 of the race but the Slovakian believes that the stage 3 is the most esteemed one.
"Another win and I called this one ‘The Hulk’,” he cited after crossing the finish line.
"I'm very happy when I can win a stage like today. Yesterday I was unlucky with the crash but also content that nothing was broken and that I didn't have any injuries”.
"This is already more than I ever expected. It's surprised me, too”.
“I wanted to do well but I need to say that this is only the start of the Tour de France and tomorrow is when the race really begins,” he pointed out towards the coming mountainous stages of the Tour”.
Sagan is now ideally placed to secure an overall victory at the green jersey "I want the green jersey and I think I can hold on to it all the way to Paris."
He is leading the point’s classifications with a total amount of 209 UCI points to his credit; Matthew Harley Goss of Team Orica GreenEdge is holding the second position with 178 points.
Andre Greipel of Team Lotto Belisol, Mark Cavendish of Team Sky Procycling and Alessandro Petacchi of Team Lampre-ISD holds the third, the fourth and the fifth positions respectively.
Fabian Cancellara of Team RadioShack-Nissan continued his dominance at the overall classifications for the sixth consecutive day.
Bradley Wiggins of Team Sky Procycling is still seven seconds behind at the second spot with Sylvain Chavanel of Team Omega Pharma-Quickstep and Tejay van Garderen of Team BMC holding the third and the fourth positions respectively.
