Peter Sagan favourite for Tour de France point’s classification, Andre Greipel
With more than a dozen victories in his bag, Andre Greipel turns towards the Tour de France as his next big goal of the season.
Andre bagged three stages at the Tour Down Under, two at the Tour of Oman, three at the Tour of Belgium, one stage at the Tour of Turkey and two at the Tour de Luxembourg in the current season.
The cyclist finished first during the Cancer Council Helpline Classic and also finished first during the ProRace Berlin 2012.
He is a strong contender for the point’s classifications but he has noted that Peter Sagan is his ultimate favourite for the event.
Greipel cited, “We want to win a stage and everything else is on top of that”.
“After seven or ten days you can look at the point’s jersey, but for me I think there is just one guy who can win the points jersey and that’s Sagan”.
“I’m quite happy and also the team is in good shape”.
“We don’t need to hide, we’re always on the front for the sprints and its good preparation. If we do our train [at the Tour], we are hard to beat”.
Peter Sagan is having an outstanding season with as many as 253 UCI points to his bag; he is holding the fifth position at the UCI World Tour Elite Men rankings.
Joaquim Rodriguez is leading the category with 404 points to his credit while Tom Boonen, Bradley Wiggins and Vincenzo Nibali holding the second, the third and the fourth positions respectively.
Sagan has bagged numerous stages including a stage each at the Tour of Oman, Tirreno-Adriatico, five stages at the Tour of California and four stages at the Tour de Suisse in the first half of the season.
He finished second at the Gent-Wevelgem, third at the Amstel Gold Race, fourth at the Milan-San Remo and occupied the fifth overall position at the Tour of Flanders.
The Slovakian succeeded wins the point’s classifications at the Tour of Oman, Tour of California and the Tour de Suisse and is a favourite contender to win the point’s classifications at the Tour de France.
Mark Cavendish wins the category at the previous edition of the race and the British will give a tough time to Peter Sagan and Andre Greipel at the event.
