Peter Sagan misses out the top spot at the Gent-Wevelgem

He rode brilliantly during the 234.6 kilometre event and almost tastes the victory during the Belgian event.
Tom Boonen of Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step managed to secure yet another win during the race and restricted Sagan at the second place.
Peter was right behind the race leader during the last sprint but fell short to grab his first race win of the season.
The Slovakian opened his 2012 winning account during the second stage of the Tour of Oman. He also earned the green jersey after dominating the point’s classification at the Oman race.
He claimed the fourth stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico and grabbed the fourth overall spot at the Milan-San Remo 2012.
Peter started riding professionally with Team Liquigas in 2010 and is currently continuing his third consecutive season with the side.
The 22-year-old had a terrific past season and has filled his bag with a number of victories during his young career.
He grabbed three stages at the Vuelta a Espana and finished first overall at the Tour de Pologne in the past season.
Sagan also claimed the overall victory at the Giro di Sardegna along with the first, the third and the fourth stage victories during the race.
While commenting on his performance during the Belgian race on Sunday he noted, "After the last time we did the Kemmelberg, I tried to get away in a break with Cancellara".
Peter appreciated Boonen’s performance during the race, "Daniel Oss was very good in the finale and led out the sprint for me but Boonen was the strongest today and he won well".
"I was trying to ride with Cancellara and Boonen, but it all comes with time. For now, it’s still good, but certainly for Flanders you need more experience", he concluded.
Sagan is targeting the Tour of Flanders as the biggest goal of his 2012 season. He will also ride the three days of De Panne to ensure his peak form ahead of the more serious goals of his season.
He is planning to skip the Paris-Roubaix and will team up with Vincenzo Nibali for the Amstel Gold Race for the current season.
