Peter Sagan continued his tremendous run of form during the 2012 version of the Amgen Tour of California.
The cyclist has now bagged his fourth consecutive victory at the race and has extended his overall lead after the stage 4 classifications.
The Slovakian was delighted after the win and thanked his team-mates for their endless support throughout the four stages of the race.
He told the media, "I didn't think I would get another victory, but after the last climb my teammate Daniel Oss said, 'We win another stage today.' I said 'I don't think so'.
“After he said this, inside me I said yeah, OK we will try, and we did. Now we are very happy and thank you for all my team".
Heinrich Haussler of Team Garmin-Barracuda, Michael Matthews of Team Rabobank and Tom Boonen of Omega Pharma-QuickStep finished at the second, the third and the fourth positions in the respective order.
Markel Irizar Aranburu of Team RadioShack-Nissan, Alex Howes of Team Garmin-Barracuda and Wilco Kelderman of Rabobank Cycling Team achieved the top three positions at the point’s classifications.
The cyclist achieved the first, the second and the third position with a total number of 5, 3 and 1 point in the respective order.
Peter Sagan of Team Liquigas-Cannondale, Michael Matthews of Team Rabobank and Jasper Stuyven of Team Bontrager Livestrong were the top three young riders on the day.
Haussler was happy with his second place finish and noted that he has finally found the right form at the Californian race.
He admired Sagan’s terrific form, “Sagan's the fastest guy at the moment, and he proved it again today”.
“We've got one more opportunity for a sprint and I'm very motivated, but there's still some serious racing to get through for the next few stages", Heinrich concluded.
The Australian is 16 seconds behind the race leader Peter after the stage 4 overall classifications.
Jeffry Louder of Team UnitedHealthcare finished 34 seconds behind at the third position while Alex Howes of Team Garmin-Barracuda and Fred Rodriguez of Team Exergy occupied the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
