Peter Sagan wins the sixth stage of the Tour de Suisse 2012
Already three stages in his bag, it seems like Peter Sagan is not done dominating the Tour de Suisse as he claimed the stage 6 of the Swiss race.
The cyclist completed the 198.5 kilometre stage between Wittnau and Bischofszell in an impressive time of 4 hours, 30 minutes and 8 seconds and occupied the top podium spot.
“The finishes in the Tour de Suisse are never straight so you need to invent something to find some space,” Peter briefed.
“I had to work harder today firstly to get a leading position in the finale, and secondly to launch the sprint”.
“I went flat out into the last corner so I wouldn’t get boxed in and even brushed the barriers”.
“I was blocked in that moment but as soon as Swift kicked, I knew I could come around and I did,” he concluded.
Ben Swift of Team Sky Procycling, Allan Davis of Team Orica GreenEdge, Michael Albasini of Team Orica GreenEdge and Oscar Freire Gomez of Team Katusha achieved the next four positions.
Peter has shown tremendous legs throughout the season and holds as many as12 stages in his bag already.
The Slovakian claimed a stage each at the Tour of Oman, Tirreno-Adriatico and the Three Days of De Panne including five stages during the Tour of California and four at the ongoing Tour de Suisse.
Danish cyclist Troels Ronning Vinther of Team Saxo Bank succeeded during the first (147.9 km) sprint of the race while Matteo Montaguti of Team AG2R La Mondiale wins the second (186.1 km) sprint.
Matteo also grabbed all the five mountains of the event and has now jumped up to the second overall position after the stage 6 mountains classifications.
Vladimir Isaichev of Team Katusha is leading the category with Frank Schleck of Team RadioShack-Nissan and Ryan Anderson of Team Spidertech holds the next three spots.
Rui Alberto Faria Da Costa of Team Movistar continued his overall lead after the stage 6 classifications.
Frank Schleck of Team RadioShack-Nissan is 8 seconds behind at the second position while Roman Kreuziger of Team Astana is further 7 seconds behind at the third position.
Thibaut Pinot of Team FDJ-Big, Nicolas Roche of Team AG2R La Mondiale and Thomas Löfkvist of Team Sky hold the next three positions in the respective order.
