Peter Sagan wins the third stage of the Tour De Suisse 2012
Peter Sagan of Team Liquigas-Cannondale continued his tremendous form and claimed yet another victory during the Tour de Suisse 2012.
The cyclist rode brilliantly during the Individual Time Trial stage 1 of the event and restricted the race favourites.
He completed the 7.3 kilometre race in a competitive time of 9 minutes and 43 seconds with a convincing lead of 4 seconds over Fabian Cancellara of Team RadioShack-Nissan.
Moreno Moser of Team Liquigas-Cannondale finished further three second behind at the third spot with Martin Elmiger of Team AG2R La Mondiale and Fredrik Carl of Team Astana occupying the fourth and the fifth positions.
Sagan was delighted after the victory and noted that all his plans worked during the race, ultimately helping with a stage victory.
He noted, "I'm really happy for this moment when everything is going well”.
“I'm not sure in the chrono, but over short distances, similar to a prologue, I can maximize my power”.
“It was a technical course that I carefully studied in the morning. I had fun and felt comfortable”.
"It's a great morale boost, what I need to continue my path towards the Tour de France”.
“Now I will concentrate on the next stages: those in the mountains to work hard and improve in strength, the others to help the team achieve new successes".
The bad patch continuous for the Schlecks as Frank Schleck had to settle for the 44th overall spot, finishing 36 seconds behind the Slovakian.
Peter Sagan, Fabian Cancellara, Moreno Moser, Martin Elmiger and Fredrik Carl Wilhelm Kessiakoff of Team Astana are the top five names at the point’s table with 15, 12, 10, 9 and 8 points respectively.
Sagan is having a terrific season with as many as nine stage victories in his bag including five stages at the Tour of California, one stage each at the Tour of Oman, the Three Days of De Panne.
He finished second during the Gent-Wevelgem, third during the Amstel Gold Race, fourth at the Milan-San Remo and occupied the fifth overall spot at the Tour of Flanders 2012.
The 22-year-old is currently leading the first overall spot after the stage 1 classifications with Fabian Cancellara of Team RadioShack holding the second position.
