Peter Sagan’s, ‘first big objective will be Milan-San Remo’ 2013
Team Cannondale Pro Cycling is planning to target the 2013 classics with a heavy roster and will mostly rely on its fresh talent to do the trick.
Peter Sagan’s peak form was evident during the current season and he is excited to continue his tremendous legs in the season ahead.
The exit of Vincenzo Nibali has definitely faded the team’s strength however, with the likes of Elia Viviani and Moreno Moser riding alongside Peter Sagan, the team is still a pretty competent side.
Sagan’s 2012 victories include stage wins at the Tour of Oman, Tour of California (five stages), Tour de Suisse (four stages) and Tour de France (three stages) and a stage each at the Tirreno-Adriatico and the Three Days of De Panne.
He also finished first at the National Road Race Championships, second at the Gent-Wevelgem, third at the Amstel Gold Race, fourth at the Milan-San Remo and occupied the fifth overall position at the Tour of Flanders 2012.
“The objectives will be the same. I’ll start off in Argentina [at the Tour de San Luis]. The first big objective will be Milan-San Remo, and then we’ll keep on going up to the northern Classics, with Wevelgem, Flanders and Amstel,” the Slovakian told Gazzetta
dello Sport.
“They’re the first races I really want to do at 100%, and then we’ll see what the programme will be after that. I’d really like to win Flanders or Milan-San Remo”.
Elia Viviani is also in supreme form and the team has high expectations from the 23-year-old in the season ahead.
“My first objective will be to be competitive at the Classics and, deep down, I want to be at the front in the classics,” Viviani said.
While Moreno Moser, the youngest of the three however, full of enthusiasm, Moser’s abilities are not a secret any more, considering his overall victory at the Tour de Pologne along with first place finishes at the Trofeo Laigueglia and Eschborn-Frankfurt
City Loop.
Moser will celebrate his 22nd birthday on Christmas Day and is planning to start the 2013 season at the La Classicissima to relive the memories of his uncle Francesco, who won it back in 1984.
