Peter Sauber: Michael Schumacher is a ‘credit’ to Formula 1 world – Formula 1 news
Sauber boss Peter Sauber has recently stated that Michael Schumacher is a ‘credit’ to the Formula 1 world and that his 20th anniversary in the sport which is expected to take place in Spa this weekend is going to be a
very special occasion.
“The reasons for his comeback are none of our business. But still today I say Michael is a credit to F1 even if he does not fight for victories. I still find him as a balanced and relaxed individual. My impression is that at the moment he is handling a not
easy situation very well,” Sauber told the media.
Schumacher became a part of Formula 1 back in 1991 when he took part in his debut race at Spa-Francorchamps. Since then, he has proved that he is definitely one of the best drivers in the sport and in a matter of 20 years, he has scored seven championships
which is a record in the history of the sport.
His talent and driving skills are just exquisite as he has been able to secure some pretty amazing results even when he had weak cars.
However, the past 2 years have been quite disappointing for him as he has not been able to challenge for race wins and he is constantly being defeated by his teammate Nico Rosberg.
Sauber on the other hand still believes that the sport will not be the same without his presence as a result of which he should stay as a part of Formula 1 despite his failures.
“Success has many fathers, failure is an orphan. But naturally I am regularly asked about the race in Spa, exactly how Michael's first race for Jordan came to pass. Michael himself did not know the circumstances until his retirement,” he added.
Other than that, Sauber stated that Schumacher still has the same determination and pace he used to have during his peak time but in order to utilise it, he will have to work even harder with his team in the future.
