Peter Sauber believes 2012 season is better and more exciting than ever in the sport – Formula 1
Sauber-Ferrari owner Peter Sauber says Formula 1 is currently more exciting and better than it ever was.
The competitiveness is very high in the season drivers have found it hard to deal with the unpredictability of the season. Teams like Sauber and Williams have found the season to be a perfect opportunity to make an impact in the season.
Sebastian Vettel won eleven Grands Prix in the season while his teammate Mark Webber won one in the final race of the season to bring the total to 12 for Red Bull.
In the current season it is hard to determine a favourite although Ferrari, Red Bull and McLaren are again going to hold the top spots at the moment, but this time there still chance for other teams to challenge them. Mercedes and Lotus are in contention
for the Championship titles.
Lotus team Principal Eric Boullier and Mercedes Principal Ross Brawn admitted that their earlier goals need to be reassessed after their respective teams have done better than they initially thought.
Lotus has had four podium finishes two Mercedes has done well with Nico Rosberg also recording his maiden victory at the Chinese Grand Prix and is placed fifth in the drivers’ standings.
Mercedes could have had a better result but Michael Schumacher has had a horrid season so far but not due to his own fault rather the team has let him down. Team Principal Brawn even apologised to Schumacher for not being able to provide the seven time champion
the equipment to perform in the season.
“As far as I can see it's just a handful of people in the paddock who can't get used to not knowing by Friday who's going to win on Sunday,” he said in an interview issued by his team on Thursday. “I think the fans see it in a completely different light.
They're delighted with the unpredictability, the sheer variety and the unbelievably close competition. I've been in Formula One for 20 years now and for me it's never been better or more exciting. That's partly down to Pirelli, who are supplying the tyres
for this show.”
