Peter Sauber believes his squad is the best team for rookie drivers – Formula 1 update
Formula 1 Sauber team principal, Peter Sauber, believes that his team is the best platform for both rookie drivers, Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi, where they are learning their trade.
He went on to mention that his Hinwil-based outfit will be prove to be lucky for Formula 1 youngsters in the future, as they choose the perfect team to hone their skills. Sauber also discussed his driver’s runs in the first three races of the 2011 season. However, he added that after three events, specifically Australia, Malaysia and China, he can say that he is extremely happy with the current driver pairing.
He went on to say, "Above all it makes me happy that it is once again paying off to work with young drivers. There is always a risk involved when you go with a rookie, but it has once again worked for us."
He further added, "It's not just about making the right choice, but it is equally important to provide the youngsters with the right environment so that they can develop. I think I can say without exaggeration that there is no better place for a grand prix rookie than with the Sauber F1 team."
The team had a good start in this season. Despite several technical-based issues with Sauber’s cars during the Australia race, both the drivers tried their level best to put in a good performance on the grid. Perez has had a good debut race in Melbourne, where he surprised his team members by taking a single pit-stop during the race. The team was also very impressed with the Perez’s debut race because he made unexpected run on the F1 grid. In the end, the retirement from that race was disappointing for the drivers because they really worked hard in the winter testing of this season to achieve upbeat results.
Sauber took part in the Malaysia race, where their driver Kobayashi completed his run with some supportive points for the team. However, Perez could not manage his best run on the track, since he experienced an accident on the course.
With regards to the recent race in China, the team participated with hopes of winning their pole position, as its drivers took a step forward to success in Sepang. Both drivers successfully finished their Friday free practice session and qualifying round of the Chinese Grand Prix on the track. The 24-years-old driver put his team on the tenth of spot and got a single point at the end of the race. A newly signed driver was not able to gather his impressive run during the race due to issues with his car.
After a positive first three race weekends, Sauber is looking forward to another successful race at the Turkish Grand Prix, scheduled on May 8, in Istanbul Park.
