Peter Sauber feels bad for Michael Schumacher in 2012 Formula 1 season so far – Formula 1 news
Sauber-Ferrari team principal, Peter Sauber has said that he is feeling bad for Michael Schumacher of Mercedes who has been seen struggling with the reliability issues in 2012 Formula 1 season so far.
“But I have to say that Schumacher’s bad luck is incredible. I’ve never seen it in Formula One before. I feel really bad for him,” said Sauber.
The seven-time world champion has been facing difficulties with his car and has retired in five out of first seven races. Moreover, he has only been able to score 2 points in the season until now.
In the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia he faced gearbox problem. Later on, in the third race at Shanghai International Circuit in China, his tyre was not fitted appropriately during the pit stop. Afterwards, in the fourth race at
Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, he faced issues with the activation of DRS.
Later, in the sixth race at Circuit de Monaco in Monte Carlo, he retired due to fuel pressure failure. Above and beyond, in the seventh race at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal, he had a complete DRS malfunction which caused his retirement.
It will be important to mention that the record championship holder has shown some impressive qualifying performances in several races. However, he could not be able to convert his competitive grid positions into a podium finish in either of the races.
Nevertheless, he has said that he is not feeling disappointed by the ongoing difficulties. In addition, he expressed that he is confidently looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming races.
“For me, it's completely understandable that things can go wrong from time to time. Of course it was a disappointing outcome in Montreal. But I won't lose my nerve or my faith in team. I still believe that we will achieve something special together with
Mercedes,” he said.
On the other hand, the team principal of Mercedes, Ross Brawn apologised to Schumacher for the uncompetitive car and said that their first priority is to resolve the problems of the veteran German driver.
“Our goal is 100 per cent reliability. We have achieved this with Nico but not for Michael. We are giving this the highest priority,” said Brawn.
